General Convention 6/23/2024
Wow. Louisville is something else. I arrived safely and got settled into my room. I have a beautiful sight of the Ohio river and the sunrises are spectacular. This is the first time since COVID that exhibitors have been invited to attend and they have come out in force. I am picking up all kinds of goodies. I just hope I have room in my suitcase. I am averaging about 12000 steps a day but am eating my way through Louisville. Saturday night we enjoyed a 2 hour revival with great music and “not a sermon” from Bishop Curry. That was actually the third time we heard him and he still has it. Sunday we had a beautiful Eucharist service at which I served as a communion host, which meant I was in charge of 6 volunteers administering communion. The place was packed. Then we started into the business of the church. For anyone who has been to convention before everything is electronic now. Each deputy and alternate has been issued an IPad. The good news is that the resolution passed on paying non stipendiary clergy a minimum of $25 a month. Yes this affects me as I am not paid for my services. I am making a lot of new friends and having fun.
Glad to hear you are doing well–that’s a lot of walking and worshiping!
So glad that Rev Catharine said you were blogging here. It’s great to hear about your journey and experiences.
