December 2023

Your Tending our Soil (TOS) team has been working hard this last year.  As you might remember you, the congregation participated in doing our historic timeline and a survey.  From that data, the team was able to develop two personas that we hope reflect the hopes and dreams of what we would envision our community looking forward.

In the latter part of the year, we worked diligently on our mission and vision for the parish to take us into the future.  At the Vestry meeting on 29 November, the TOS team briefed them on the work we had completed in our first year and what we have developed as our working mission and vision for Durham.  The results were met with approval of the work done and for the developed statements.

As we move into Year Two of the three-year program, the team will work on drafting goals that will be used to fulfill the vision for the future of Durham.

We would like to introduce the congregation to the Mission and Vision Statements that the TOS team has developed for use in the program .

Mission:

Feeding souls since 1661, that all may feast at God’s table.

Vision:

  1. Foster opportunities for growth through service.
  2. Cultivate a safe and welcoming place for all who seek respite, meaning, and nourishment.
  3. Recognize, acknowledge, and understand our history and how it affects our present day.

The Tending our Soil is standing by to answer your questions or concerns.
