Franklin Robinson, an archivist with the Smithsonian and a parishioner at St Thomas, Croome, has written a book called Faith and Tobacco about the history of Croome and the Episcopal/Anglican presence here in Southern Maryland.

Mr Robinson has also been tapped by our diocese to research the history of the pre-1692 parishes (which includes Durham) for the diocesan history project.  The goal is to learn about relations with the enslaved population of Maryland before 1864.  He is still working on that project, but he would be happy to come discuss his book and his research so far.

If you would like to see the book before Mr Robinson comes to talk with us on August 25, 2024, please let Rev. Catharine or Deacon Susan know. We have two copies of the book that we can lend to folks.
